The funny thing about the Process Map of Consciousness is, not only are we not alone, we would indeed have trouble severing the ties that bind us to the collective unconscious. Indeed, it is a part of us.
But, like many if not most things in life, there are positives and negatives. It’s good not being alone. We have a term, loneliness, and it conjures pictures of despair and rejection. On the other hand, what if the company has his/her own agenda, his/her own goal-seeking, conscious-monopolizing, attention-demanding voice, and this voice is in your own head. Well, why wouldn’t it be? It’s part of you, yes?
Yes and no.
The collective unconscious exists without you. But it is, however, enhanced, by your existence.
