I just made my first paperback order from my publisher, Double Dragon. And it was just a few days ago that I sent back my final blue line edits (the final, final edit). And much to my surprise, I already have a ranking on amazon. And it’s not that bad of a ranking prior to my unofficial kick-off to the marketing campaign.
Speaking of that, I’ve decided to go with Pump Up Your Book for my virtual book tour. I’ve toured with them before. It was about eight years ago. I had a lot of fun and I sold a few books. That’s all one can ask for. Well, NYT bestsellerdom, too, but I’m working on it. My adorable wife Kathee suggests my next novel will be the breakout one. Maybe so. But I think that would only occur if I give Dominion my best shot at promotion.

I’ll post again as this promotional campaign kicks off. It’s not every day that you have a novel published and available for purchase from the general public. It’s the ultimate challenge to see if your product is good enough. The theory is, if the book really is indeed good, there’ll be chatroom discussions about it and it will be talked about on message boards and maybe it won’t become a bestseller, but it will generate interest and an undercurrent of appreciation for this novel, perhaps to become a series. We shall see.
